据英国《镜报》3月15日报道，英国首辆生态公交车将于3月底在布里斯托市正式投入运营。该公交车由生物甲烷驱动，而作为燃料的甲烷则是通过人类粪便、污水和厨余垃圾发酵而成，上路后可消耗超过3.2万户家庭产生的生活粪便和垃圾。
据悉，这辆可运载40人的“便便车”由英国西英格兰福斯特公交公司负责运营。虽然该车曾于2014年秋天亮相，并负责从布里斯托机场到巴斯的线路，但尚未在城市中运行。此次，“便便车”将于3月25日正式在布里斯托市中心投入使用，为2号线路提供服务，一周运行4天。
公交公司总经理弗里曼(Freeman)表示，生物公交车将引发人们对于最佳燃料选择和环境保护的思考与讨论。若此次运营成功，将有更多生物公交车在英国城市中投入使用。
